I am born and bred in Rawalpindi, Pakistan. I am from a family where everything revolves around Islam, which is not something unusual for a society like Pakistan. I was taught the deobandi brand of Islam and how it was the perfect religion and the 'only true' Islam.

By nature I am a spiritual and skeptical person who used to question and think. These questions were discouraged and considered to be extremely disrespectful, so I had to deal with the situation in an awkward manner. I used to see the 'hate' in some of my family members, not only for other faiths, but even for other sects of Islam.

By the age of 20, I started to search for my answers on my own because there was no one else I knew who was like me. Even though I didn't have the courage of facing the consequences if I declared it openly, I had rejected deobandi Islam altogether. I used to feel that my family members were like infants in this universe; they are mistaken and if I challenge their views they would not understand me. So let me deal with them like kids and infants. Let them play with their 'deobandi islam' while I continue to research on my own.

I came to UK at the age 21 and here I began to get access to a lot of material that would never have been possible to access back home. I investigated Islam properly and questioned each and everything that I was not supposed to question. I was going through a lot of Muslim history about how the Qur'an was compiled, the wars that the companions of Prophet Muhammad faced who are ashra mubashra sahabis, killing each other. The slaughter of Banu Qurayza even when they surrendered, the historic blunders, the early confusion of prophet Muhammad regarding the revelations (thinking they were from Satan).

Islamic scholars avoided giving me answers and I could not find them in books. I called one of my old teachers from Pindi who was also in the UK (an apostate), and who survived an attack from fanatics back home, even though his whole library was burnt in Pindi. We had long discussions and I left Islam and became an apostate.

The people who found about my unorthodox views rejected me, and hated me. But my desire for truth out weighs my desire for comfort in this life. It is not very common for people who formerly had first-hand knowledge of Islam to work on it with a secular perspective. I want to continue working in an academic way so that my findings could be used by other allied fields. My assassination will not be just a loss of one life; it would be loss of all my work and energy and loss of an effort that could contribute to secure civilized humans from intolerant religious philosophies.

I converted to Islam about ten months ago at the time of this writing, thinking as many converts do that it is a rational religion with reasonable teachings and hoping that it would help to ease many of the psychological issues I have. That, after all, is how the religion is presented to the general public.

What I came to find was that most Muslims, while being friendly, outgoing, and rational people to some extent (speaking from my own experience), were completely irrational and convinced that they know everything about every religion on the planet, when in reality (and I say this from the point of view of someone who has studied world religions a great deal) they know nothing about any except their own, and even that is debatable.

But when I discovered that certain parties had written Arabic pieces and poems that matched the Qur'an both in literary style and rhyme scheme (these can be viewed, if the link has not already been provided on this website, at http://suralikeit.com), that was the breaking point for me.

I was then able to give Muhammad the title that I have given many religious leaders: "crazy cult leader bent on gaining power and influence off the backs of his followers." Besides this, in retrospect, I hated the person I was when I was a Muslim. I was a robot, acting for nothing more than the selfish hope of a farcical paradise.

If certain people want to surrender their minds to this inane, drab, monotonous, and outdated religion, then they should go right ahead. As for me, I count myself among those who think for themselves.

The Best Day of My Life: Leaving Islam (Apostate Testimony)

First I would like to thank those of you who are taking the time to read my story. This is about my short journey with Islam and why I left, never to look back. I do not intend on offending anybody, but I am trying to warn future converts about Islam.

As a young, naive college student, I met a muslim arab guy. We began dating and he promised me a lifetime of happiness and love. Luckily I did not give him my life, but the in the time I did give him, I learned a lot about the muslim community. Soon after we started dating he began commending me on my innocence of being a virgin and he explained that he could never marry a non-virgin, mind you that he had many sexual partners and was far from a practicing muslim. I should have taken this as a sign of his character. Anyways, soon he explained that he could not marry me because I was not one of the three religions of the book (christian, jewish, muslim). I was so broken. I was not going to change religions for him but at the time I was going through times of disbelief of my own religion. I looked into other religions and made a muslim friend at my university. After studying the religion for about two months, I decided to convert. The guy I was dating did not try to persuade me, but he was happy to hear about my decision.

This is where I want all of the 'future converts' to really listen. When i told my friend I wanted to convert, she became more than excited and began to take me under her wing. She could not wait to take me to the mosque and she told me we are now sisters. She introduced me to a ton of people who were congratulating me and teaching me how to pray and make wudu, etc. The night I converted everyone was SO nice to me. All of the ladies hugged and kissed me and told me that I am now their family. It was a beautiful night for me, but I did not now what I was getting into. My family is very strict and did not know I converted. They all assured me that it doesn't matter because I did the right thing for Allah.

As soon as I converted, the first thing my boyfriend told me was, 'so u are going to start wearing a hijab (head scarf) now, right??' I was astonished that someone so non-religous was putting such demands on a new convert. Even the girl from my university that took me to convert told me that real muslim girls cover their head, but she was understanding that my parents did not know so I could not do that. Then all of the 'friends' I met at the mosque began judging my actions. If I was seen talking to a boy or even out at the movies at night, they all told me I could not do that anymore. They all told me to wear a hijab, even though they knew that my parents did not know I converted. They said to just put it on after I left home. At first they tried to tell me in a joking way, then they starting bad-mouthing me to other people. They all either gave me dirty looks or tried to convince me that I was not living a moral-life. The arab guy I was dating started lying and cheating on me.

I felt like a prisoner. I truly felt like I lost my freedom and I was SO envious of the non-muslim girls, who could live a comfortable carefree life. The muslim guys drank, smoked, dated multiple girls, and lived a very liberal lifestyle. They received no repercussions. After months and months of constantly feeling guilty and isolated, I decided that God does not want people to be miserable. Most of the muslim girls I know are truly miserable. I did not want to waste my life wishing that I was 'free' again. The day I realized this, I ran to paint my nails again, something I had not done since converting to Islam because it breaks wudu and invalidates your prayer. I felt SO free. It was the best day of my life. It was when I began to be myself again. I stopped dating that guy. This was about 3 years ago. I am now in a very healthy relationship with a non-muslim (thank God) and I could not be happier.

I highly warn future converts to try to live a muslim lifestyle for a month before converting. If you like this lifestyle, then you know what to do, but if not, don't make yourself miserable. DO NOT listen to muslims when they try to convince you to convert. They are trying to convince you for their own selfish purposes and will often tell lies to lure you into Islam. After studying the religion from a non-biased standpoint, I believe Muhammad had Temporal Lobe Epilepsy. Many things in the Quran can be proven incorrect through modern science. The religion is against music, television, photography of living things, playing chess, and much much more. I personally feel that these beliefs are not valid and make no sense. My story is very mild compared to what some other converts went through. I am just thankful that I did not marry the guy I was dating.

My breach with Islam started as far back as I could discern things. More to the point, I never embraced Islam in the first place, although I was born and raised in a Muslim family.

For one thing, I had a very difficult time following a so-called religion whose founder and followers had butchered my ancestors, raped and sold our women, burned our libraries, and destroyed our magnificent culture. Islam was forced down the throats of Iranians with the sword of Allah. In my heart, I never considered myself a Muslim. However, I didn’t reveal this until later in life for fear of retribution by radical Muslims.

Sharia law stipulates that any Muslim who turns his back on Islam should be given a chance to revert to the faith. For an unrepentant male apostate, death is the proscribed punishment and life imprisonment for the female apostate.

“Kill whoever changes his religion.” Sahih al-Bukhari 9:84:57

Islam considers an apostate as a person who unilaterally breaks the covenant he has made with the faith. An apostate is condemned as guilty of turning his back on Allah’s immutable eternal religion.

I came to the realization that the root cause of my peoples’ degradation and suffering was Islam. It was a creed imposed on an enlightened, tolerant and free people at the point of the sword by savages hailing from the Arabian Peninsula during the seventh century with promises of booty and women in this world and glorious eternal sensual rewards in the promised paradise of Allah in the next. With each passing day, I rejoice more and more in my good fortune; in my ability to avoid the yoke of Islamic slavery and its blinders that imprisons a billion and half people by walls of superstition, hatred of others, and a celebration of death.

Things Islamic not only did not resonate with me, they often clashed head on with what I valued and loved. What appealed to me and even enchanted me were more often than not, taboo in Islam or anathema to the creed. I loved life, beauty in all its forms, poetry, ancient Iranian culture and traditions. I loved laughter, celebrations of joy such as birthdays; our yearly festivities of Nowruz, my favorite, lasts for thirteen days. Nowruz, this ancient festival, has been celebrated for thousands of years by my people; it ushers in the spring, welcomes renewal of life, and expresses optimism for the year ahead to bless us with good health, abundant food, family, and friends in the land of a civilized and free people.

I have always believed one cannot possibly be a Persian and hold to the lofty tenets of the ancient Iranian Zoroastrian triad of good thoughts, good words, good deeds, and remain a Muslim. In the same fashion, one cannot cherish American values, the Bill of Rights and the United States Constitution and be a true Muslim. They are comprehensively incompatible with Sharia Law.

Iranian Muslims are victims of the Islamic virus that has destroyed in them their traditional respect for diversity. It is the Iranian ancient fundamental belief in the validity and value of diversity that is enshrined in the Cyrus the Great Cylinder, the unconditional respect for the complete rights of all the people of the world that has held the nation together over the millennia. Although Islam was imposed on Iran some 1,400 years ago, Iranians deeply value their own ancient non-Arab identity and have never fully surrendered to the Arab culture.

Currently, a large number of Iranians are completely fed up with Islam and they want to leave this dogma of hate and violence. In fact, many already have, but they simply aren’t able to come forward and announce it, for obvious reasons.

Such duplicity exists within the Iranian culture. Originally, Iranians were forced to accept Islam to save their lives from Arab invaders, but deep within the heart of every single Iranian alive today, exists a burning resentment of the Arab-Islamic invasion of their homeland and culture. It is ironic that many Iranians may actually confess to being Muslims; yet, an overwhelming number of Iranians have never read the Quran or understand its language. The events in history have toughened present day Iranians. They have become great pretenders. But the totality of 1400 years of Islamic barbarity and savagery must end. We no longer need to pretend that we are practicing Muslims; when in fact, we are not.

Realistically speaking, there is perhaps 10-15 percent of the population that continues to support the clerical system in varying degrees. Many in this group are government employees, Mullahs, and hired thugs such as the Basiji. Also, the regime has some backers among the poor, the less educated, and the deeply religious. Yet, the alienation from the regime and Islam spans the entire spectrum of the Iranian society with the intelligentsia and the university students leading the determined opposition to end Islamic rule.

Masses of Iranians are irreparably alienated from a corrupt and oppressive Islamic rule. The rule of the Islamic Republic of Iran (IRI) is crumbling. The previously solid edifice, or at least the appurtenance of it, is finally showing many cracks that continue to grow. There are just too many fault lines to list here.

My fellow secularist Iranians and I have indeed done, and continue to do, what we can to help our compatriots in Iran, who are on the front line fighting Islam and the Islamic Regime.

The 2009 protests were just as much against the Islamic Republic as they were about Shi’a Islam. In fact, much of it was against Islam itself. People have experienced what a primitive and defective system of belief Islam is and aim to abandon it for good. Many will still hang on to it to some extent for some time. Yet, a great many would simply leave Islam and even actively oppose it.

There are still those who foolishly claim that Muhammad was a messenger from God and the Quran is a divinely revealed book. My suggestion is that they use their intellect and read the Quran fully for themselves without the assumption that the book is the literal word of God and that Muhammad was their messenger. Without this assumption as their starting point, they will find better than 90% of the book is about violence, threats of hell, exclusion of people, and the like. What kind of God would dictate things like what you find in the Quran? It took Muhammad 20 years to reveal this hodge-podge book that reads more like expressions of a delusional individual with multiple personality disorder.

I bemoan the plight of my native land and the people who have suffered and continue to suffer under Islam. Without Islam there wouldn’t be any Muslims to hoist the banner of hate and violence against non-Muslims. A few claim that Islam has done some good in the past. Well, that’s debatable. There are those who are equally convinced that Islam has inflicted a great deal of suffering on others from its inception to the present. What we all must agree on is that Islam and its sharia laws, at the very least, do not fit in today’s world.

Islam is a creed of an ignorant people in a primitive and barbaric age. It is fixated in time and place; it harbors the ambition of taking the 21st century world back 14 centuries and ruling it by its dogma of violence, intolerance, injustice and death. Yet, Islam is not only an obsolete vestige of a defunct era, but itself is an infinitely fractured belief that can hardly put its own home in order. The numerous Islamic sects are at each other’s throats; sub-sects and schools despise one another as much as they hate non-Muslims. Hatred, not love, drives Islam.

I am not against Muslims. I condemn Islam with all its derivatives and those who support and promote it. Muslims are patients and Islam is a disease. You want to help the patients to rid themselves of the affliction. You want to eradicate a horrifically communicable disease. Although many prefer to tackle the militant version of Islam “Islamism,” for all intents and purposes, there is no sharp demarcation between, Islamists, Jihadists and Islamism. One and all are progeny of Islam itself. Any differences among the three are of degree and not kind. When one addresses Islamism and jihadism, their source is also addressed.

Regrettably, Islam cannot be reformed. Keep in mind that Islam claims it is the perfect eternal faith for mankind. Splits have occurred and will continue to occur in Islam. Yet, reformation has not happened in nearly 1400 years and is not going to happen. Islam is carved in granite, just the way it is. No change. Allah’s book is sealed.

In the monumental task of dealing with Islam and its variations, every individual, group and government must combine their resources and energies to prevail. We must urge all people to resist Islam’s encroachment and not be deceived by its sanitized version presented in non-Islamic lands. The destiny of civilized life hangs in the balance. Shirking of this responsibility would be an unpardonable act of every enlightened human being and organization that values human liberty and dignity.

People are welcome to believe whatever they want to, and it's fine by me, so long as they don't try to use it against me. I vividly remember when I lost my faith. I was sitting in church when I was around 9, and I was sitting there trying to believe in what the pastor was telling me, and it just WASN'T happening. I had a small Bible my mother left me when she died (she died before I actually had any memory of her) and I would read it, and it all just sounded like fairy tales written in an old fashioned language. Then I took more and more science classes at school and realized how fascinating this world still was even if it wasn't created by some mythical being. Please note here, I am NOT trying to sway you one way or another, just explaining what the process of losing my faith was like. I'm 25 now and honestly quite content with the fact that there is nothing after I die. I still have strong morals, I didn't need a book to teach me those, it's all common sense. If it hurts me, it will probably hurt someone else, so don't do it. And honestly, I think the idea of an afterlife only cheapens the experiences I have now. What would be the point of trying to accomplish anything in this life time if I get ANY sort of after life or something? I honestly think you should pay attention to this feeling you have. How I got Enlightened

I am a born Muslim and practiced Islam like any other common Muslim does. Almost for 10 years of my early life I kept saying 3 - 5 times prayer including Fa’jar (a prayer that’s offered before dawn). I have read Quran uncountable times; I have been reciting it while “QAYAM” (reading Quran out loud while standing at night). After reading it in Arabic I read it in the language I understand the best – under translated versions I read Molana Mohammad Ashraf Thanvi, Molana Modody, Dr. Gulam Murtaza Malik, Molana Mohammad Jonagharhi and in Tafseer I read Tafseer Ibne Kaseer and other one I read is of Molana Salah u Din Yousaf.

About mohamad’s life I read “Ar-Raheeq Al-Makhtum” of (Saifur Rahman al-Mubarakpuri. Jamia Salafia) the best considered memoire. But nothing satisfied my reasons.

During my educational period since I took History, Journalism, Psychology and Philosophy as main subjects, latter these topics helped me to be able the reading between the lines. After quitting education I kept my general study thus I read “History of Islam” by multiple Historians. While studying the History (of Blood) a couple of people suggested me to not read it as it confuses our belief; but I keep reading and yes -I lost it – finally.

I kept reading about History, Anthropology and Religion - books like, “Pleasures of Philosophy” by Will Durant; cleared my concept of religion. Then I read “History of God“ Karen Armstrong” & “Story of God” by Robert Winston these books cleared my concept of the ideology of god.
Now it’s eight years since I lost Islam and more than two years I lost the god. Life is far more enjoying now.

But the search of reasonable reasons is going on!

Sehrish Mir recently left Islam. Ayaz is her husband and "Abdul Samad Lion" is a facebook character that she spoke with. Here is her story as told by her: -

I've always been a true believer. I was born in a shia syed family, proud descendants of Imam Naqvi. Long story short, when I met Ayaz in 2006, he was this school principal, big guy with a beard, handsome, very well mannered and often saw him reading the quran, well it was like we were meant just to be. But, I never could have imagined what I was getting myself into, it was a nightmare. I had intentionally, without the permission of my parents, married a non-believer. Of course he didn't just lay all his cards on the table, he took his time, patience is something that runs through Ayaz like the blood in his body. He never forced anything on me, he just showed me the evidence and let me absorb it on my own.

Ayaz was like a whole new world for me, new ideas, new culture, everything was different. He was there every step of the way, like teaching a baby to walk.

It took me a very long time to finally realise that what Ayaz says is true. It's easy not to believe in something that surrounds you like the air we breath. Islam was in my blood like a poison and Ayaz helped me find a cure.

Among many other one of Ayaz's concepts that really touched was that if Allah really wanted religion to be a part of our lives, why would he make five different religions. He should know, that this would create hatred and war. Allah can't be so cruel to the things he himself created, it was then that I realised that religion was only man made.

When I discussed anti-religious issues with Ayaz, listening to his views really scared me as a believer, I always used to pray to Allah to forgive him for what ever he's saying.

What really opened my eyes about Islam and showed me it's true face was the discussion I had with Abdul Samad Lion on the murder of Salman Taseer against the blasphemy law and the concept of blasphemy through the mind of a good muslim as we call them. Also the status of women in Islam, shameful.

I'm glad to state now that I have nothing to do with religion anymore. Allah is something that still tends to linger in my head, can't get him out :) I guess he loves me too much, maybe later.

I would also like to thank all you faithless people ;) for bashing the faithful and showing people like us the unseen, unspoken truth.

I was born in a very very religious family.All of the members of my family were religious.I was also religious too.I memorised about 15 parahs of the Quran , I used to Pray.But I was not very sure , i used to think everyone think his religious i true.. which made me think about Islam.I started watching Zakir Naiks video and used to think that waoo islam is truth.. he wins debates etc.I used to goto forums on orkut , where I met atheists and I came to know there is something called ' atheist ' , before going to orkut I didnt realize atheist existed . I used to debate with alots of people about Islam and do dawah.I had a debate with an atheist on orkut , I realized that he was foolish and left islam and will burn in hell and other atheist will also.But later on I came to know a bit about science , I thought these doctors lie and all scientists are lying to defame islam . So I thought I am ok as a muslim.But as more I debated with atheists I felt weak about my religion.Than I turned agnostic and realized I should not fuck my brain by debating.I should be quite.But as time passed , I used to watch videos of people like wafa sultan , maryam namazie , nonnie darwish and other ex muslims.So it gave me motivation to see if islam is really true.But I came to know that Muslims just fool others as I used to fool people and tried my best that they convert to islam.So I came to know about arabs too and I think they are dumb in this century how the hell they would be 1400 years ago.Also aisha marrying mohammad didnt make sense.Women rights didnt make sense to me in islam , Gods way of torture didnt make sense .. and taqdeer , destiny didnt made sense.If GOD is all knowing and he knows what we will do , they why the hell he is created this test.. he can put us in hell fire and enjoy.. science made some sense to me .. so i thought these guys are right and better listen to some debates.. so i came to hamza tzortis videos vs atheists ... lol they made me more close to atheism and I started doing blasphemy . I hated GOD in sometime and I left Islam.I am free now , I am happy with non muslims and can be there friend.In islam you cant make non muslims your friend.this also made me sick.So I thought better be a humanist it makes more sense.So I came to atheism. The way to free thinking and rationality. Fuck islam !

I also was sick about gays not being given the right to practice homosexuality , where as Muslims thought that walking on a sea is ok natural , moon being braken into two pieces by muhammad is natural , man talking to God is natural.. so how come being gay and a lesbian cant be natural ! I am ok and very happy to be an atheist now and I dont need any imaginary friend .

Here is the verse saying you can not make friends with Christians or Jews: -

Qur'an (5:51) - "O you who believe! do not take the Jews and the Christians for friends; they are friends of each other; and whoever amongst you takes them for a friend, then surely he is one of them; surely Allah does not guide the unjust people"

Also notice how Allah is refusing to guide those who need his guidance the most and then he's going to torture them for being misguided... What?!?!

I was born in a religious deobandi family. Few of my relatives are among the top scholars of Pakistan. I am 29 and I was a very very practicing muslim till last month. I was always surrounded by practicing muslims and my dream was to make people realize the benefits of shariah. I was working hard to make my place in some religious political parties but didn't like them. I am a simple electrical engineer, just doing a normal day job .... I was not interested in studies and this worldly wealth ...my aim was to get the higher rank in jannah and to please allah every time. I tried to even offer tahajjud regularly. As living in Pakistan , i found muslims everywhere and was happy and always thanked allah that he made me born in an islamic country where i dont have any restriction in practicing and preaching my religion. Even being a hardcore muslim , I only knew a beautiful face of islam and like majority of muslims , I never read quran with translation , sahih bukhari and other authentic islamic material. I was closely associated with tableeghi jamaat and they just make you learn some statements and you have to repeat them over and over again. I was strictly against reading quran with translation as all the scholars in pakistan say that common muslims should no read quran and hadiths with understanding . But few months back I just wanted to find out some material and got an urdu translation of quran. Before reading quran I only knew surah rahman that is full of heaven's description and how merciful allah is. But when i started reading quran I was shocked to see that how ruthless allah is. On small small stuff he threatens his creation for the hell fire. Azaab in this world, azaab in qabar (not in quran but a strong concept held among scholars), eternal hell for disbelievers .........I was very tolerant towards non muslims and didn't like the idea that they should be deprived of their rights in islamic countries. I used to think that allah is merciful and he will inshallah forgive all those who are not accepting islam in their ignorance. But the more i read quran , I found that allah is not that merciful esp for non muslims. After reading quran many questions were there in my mind, I consulted many scholars and even i got abused by many that i m getting daemon possessed. After that I was always in doubt even when i was offering salaah , I used to think that why we recite "Bismillahe-ar-rahman-e-raheem" , as allah is not all merciful. That was the seed of doubt. But i continued with doubts as the fear of hell fire was still there in my mind. As i m educated so i have access to computer and internet. While searching for the truth over internet I came to know that muslims are only 11-13% in this world. I was like "huh, all powerful god unable to convince large number of human beings? all merciful god will send rest of his creation to hell fire just because they didnt believe in him and his last prophet?" .......that i think was the beginning towards the end of my faith....I continued searching and came across a youtube video that talks about history of monotheism . I also came to know that only 3 abrahamic religions are dominant (Judaism,Christianity and Islam) ......I thought why allah didn't completely destroy all the false religions so everyone can have a single religion and then if someone disobeys or disbelieve , punishment makes sense. That video made sense to me but the idea of all powerful god was not easy to reject...i continued searching for truth for months....so 3 days back i realized the truth that god(may or may not) exists but he do not send any prophets and religions , because if he is all powerful then he doesn't requires to call a 7th century trader in the cave and then ask to preach his words to the world. My journey of leaving Islam started from reading George Orwell's novel, 1984. By the time I finished reading the novel, I was an atheist. The story is not based on religion. It just tells the tactics of a totalitarian regime that controls human minds. The story has an unseen character called Big Brother who could watch people all the time through big telescreens. The story also talks about a room 101 where people who dare crime of thinking are tortured. The way torturing is devised ultimately leaves people to believe what the power wants them to believe. The tortures include physical pains such as regular beatings, hunger, sleeplessness, living in morbid places with creepy rats.
I feel that religions also train human minds by using similar tactics. Big Brother is nothing but an imaginary concept like God. The idea that you are being watched makes you control every moment and even your thinking. Control over basic human instincts like sleep, hunger, thirst and sex helps religion to survive with full power.
We have lived with all these tortures and tried our best to please the Big Brother. But have we ever thought that these pains have made us hate ourselves and others. Religions never like happiness and comfort.It gives us imaginary Heaven and for the want of that imagination we waste our lives. Religion is nothing but hatred and violence. It is a sick philosophy with fake discipline that can never help humanity to survive.
Religions want this world to be place like Room 101 where suffering and violence thrive. The only advantage of our suffereing goes to the controlling power. No one challenges in Room 101 and we come out as perfect beings as desired by religions.

The women asked, "Why is it so, O Allah's Apostle ?" 

Muhammad replied, "You curse frequently and are ungrateful to your husbands. I have not seen anyone more deficient in intelligence and religion than you. A cautious sensible man could be led astray by some of you." 

The women asked, "O Allah's Apostle! What is deficient in our intelligence and religion?" 

Muhammad said, "Is not the evidence of two women equal to the witness of one man?" They replied in the affirmative. He said, "This is the deficiency in her intelligence. Isn't it true that a woman can neither pray nor fast during her menses?" The women replied in the affirmative. He said, "This is the deficiency in her religion."

The Quran says that there was a global flood, much like the one in the bible, in which all animals and humans were killed. The waves were apparently higher than mountains: -

Quran 11:40 "[So it was], until when Our command came and the earth overflowed with water, We said, "Load upon the ship of each species two mates and your family, except those about whom the word has preceded, and [include] whoever has believed..."

Quran 71:26 "Noah said, "Lord, do not leave a single disbeliever on earth."

Quran 11:42-43 "So the Ark floated with them on the waves high as mountains, and Noah called out to his son...: "O my son! embark with us, and be not with the unbelievers!" [But] he said, "I will take refuge on a mountain to protect me from the water." ...And the waves came between them, and he was among the drowned.

My questions: -

How did Polar Bears and Arctic Wolves who require freezing temperatures (-40°C to -90°C) survive the much warmer environment on the boat?

Animals and plant species require highly specialized environments to survive [Temperature, Humidity etc]. How were these specialized environments provided on the boat?

There are millions and millions of different species, how were they all collected and how did these fit into a boat?

After the flood, there would be no plants remaining on dry land. The herbivores would need food and plants require some time to grow again. How did the herbivores survive without food during and after the journey?

What did the carnivorous animals eat during and after the flood since ANIMALS EAT OTHER ANIMALS and this would lead to extinction everytime a lion wanted feeding!

Thousands of species require specific and specialized diets to live. How were these maintained?

Why is there no geological evidence for a global flood? (No certified geologists accept Noah's ark story as being true)

How did animals swim thousands of miles of ocean (while not eating through the journey) in order to reach Noah's ark?

Other people such as fishermen have boats. Some are very sophisticated. Why didn't these help them to survive?

Muslims are ashamed of Muhammad: Aisha scandal!

It is clear that Muslims are extremely ashamed of Muhammad and his legacy. This is why they deny facts about him when asked. This is why they try to change his orthodox biography that has been taught for centuries in the most Islamic of Universities from Baghdad to Egypt. Nowhere is this more clear than in Muhammad's marriage and interaction with the baby girl Aisha. Their shame is the reason behind them trying to change her age from the historically accepted 9 to something older.

Whichever way you try it, a 9 year old girl being made to sleep with a 54 year old man is something shameful and not the behavior you would expect from a man of God. But of course Muslims are so ashamed of this that they try to hide the story or even change it. There has been a great propaganda campaign to either hide her age or to make it older than it has been accepted to be historically. Muslims who do not have the courage to accept their own religion as it is are now saying Aisha was older than 9 when Muhammad had sex with her which is false. Depending on which islamophillic propaganda site you go to, she may be 13, 14, 15, going all the way up to 21 when Muhammad slept with her.

The flexibility in Aisha's age is usually achieved through ridiculous mathematical tricks. All of this flip flopping can be combated very easily by stating the simple fact that every single one of the Hadith and historical record in which Aisha herself is speaking, she reports only the age of 6 as marriage and 9 as the age when Muhammad robbed her of her innocence. What follows is an extensive record of many Hadith from different sources that give Aisha's very own testimony. You make your mind up, because in my humble opinion, Aisha knows better than any imam or scholar how old she really was. Let's see what she herself has to say about her age...

So Muslims all around the world have recently been celebrating the conversion to Islam of a South African cricket player as a prelude to Ramadan. There are a few problems with this paradigm. Muslims somehow think that someone converting to their religion proves it must be true. If this form of argument if to be used, then anyone who leaves the religion, such as myself, proves Islam to be incorrect and false. What about the many people converting to other religions such as Hinduism? Does that "PROVE" anything at all except that one person changed their mind?

The way Muslims celebrate conversions really exposed how Islam destroys a person's humanity because converting to Islam is a one way street. Once you go in, you are "NOT ALLOWED" to change your mind. The penalty for leaving Islam is death and Islam is the only religion of peace that practices this abhorrent act. Any ideology that makes it a crime to change your mind about it is by definition man-made; especially if the penalty is death.

And what does it say about the morality of Muslims since they are openly and proudly supporting murder. Why are they not ashamed of this disgusting view and behavior. What about the complete intellectual and moral corruption when they fail to mention this punishment to the person they are trying to convert. I would say that this act of hiding the truth in this way alone is enough to class the Islamic conversions as nothing more than a deceptive act.

Some atheists were brought to 'Ali and he burnt them [alive]. The news of this event, reached Ibn-Abbas who said, "If I had been in his place, I would not have burnt them, as Muhammad forbade it, saying, 'Do not punish anybody with Allah's punishment (fire).' I would have killed them according to the statement of MUHAMMAD: 'Whoever changed his Islamic religion, then kill him.'"

A culture of denial

I do not know when it began or when it will end, but I do know for a fact that Muslims have produced and are living in a culture of denial. By this I mean that Muslims will go to any lengths and deny any fact, as long as it means that Islam is held up and defended. When this changes, it will be a big step towards the death of Islam and the emergence of a peaceful, modern and progressive Middle-East, North-Africa and Central-Asia.

* Muslims go in denial when you confront them with the fact that Muhammad was sexually attracted to children.
* Muslims go in denial when you confront them with the scientific fact of Evolution by Natural Selection and how it has been proven beyond any reasonable doubt to be true and accepted by all reputable scientists from diverse fields.
* Muslims go in denial when you confront them with the fact that Muhammad committed atrocities against Non-Muslims (including children) that were unnecessary if Muhammad's goal was to ensure the safety of Muslims.
* Muslims go in denial when you show them that most of Muhammad's battles were offensive in nature, not defensive.
* Muslims go in denial when you show them evidence that Islamic Jihad has lead to 270 Million deaths in the past 1400 years.
* Muslims go in denial when you show them that the poverty, backwardness, illiteracy and stagnation that you see in the Muslim majority countries is because they are stuck in the 7th century of Islam, while the world is booming towards the 22nd and 23rd century.

(the list can be expanded almost indefinitely but the point is made)

When this culture of denial ends as it has in Iran and is in parts of Pakistan, Islam will be dead and Muslims will wake up to realize the true extent to which Muhammad used them for his own benefit and to spread Muhammad's own world view and opinions.

All religions live in denial, but Muslims do it most frequently and take pride in this culture of denial which I do not find healthy...

I am a Muslim and Proud!!

It is very easy to find instances of a Muslim proclaiming either in person or on the internet that they are "Proud to be a Muslim". Every time I hear this statement, I never fail to wonder, what exactly is it that Muslims are so proud of?

Their women are enslaved and treated like children, their countries are third-world backwaters stagnated by an obviously out-dated religion, their youth is constantly angry, they are lacking in all fields of studies whether it be science, literature or discovery, illiteracy is extremely high, they have failed to reform Islam to make it a more acceptable religion in a world much different from the 7th century, their countries have no freedom of speech or expression...

I can go on at length and possibly write a whole book on pervasive and serious problems, many of which are unique to Muslim communities and caused by Islam. Islamic countries' crimes and problems are ignored and hidden, not dealt with because problems are not suppose to exist in an Islamic society. Muslims have developed a fetish for finding faults with the West as if that makes their own faults disappear.

Again, What is it that Muslims are so proud of?

Muslims follow a dead Arab who could not resist his sexual attraction to a child and ended up having sex with a 9 year old baby girl called Ayesha, as admitted by Ayesha herself in countless hadith. They follow a dead Arab who ordered people to be stonned to death, who ordered people's hands and feet to be cut off over petty theft, who is responsible for the murder of thousands of non-muslims. Muslims follow a complete fraud who taught hate and a divisive religion.

Again, What is it that Muslims are so proud of?

Give this madness up. Allah does not exist... Muhammad lied... everything is explained when you recognize that simple historical fact. All the countless failures of Islam start making sense. Islam is the noose that strangles the Muslims and prevents them from producing a modern country.

This article is not to ridicule or insult Muslims but to make them think about their circumstances and face reality. How long will Muslims live in denial and say these problems somehow do not exist. To improve, the first step is to acknowledge that there is a problem. This is why this article was written, so the Muslim reading it can acknowledge that there is a problem and start doing something about it. Instead of wasting time bowing down to the wall in their rooms, Muslims need to spend it solving the problems facing Muslim majority countries. Sorry Muslims, but following a dead warlord who had sex with a child is not something to be proud of, but something to be ashamed of.

Was Islam ever a religion of peace?

It has become almost impossible to hear the word Islam without the subsequent words "is a religion of peace". But is it really? If so, then where is the peace? Luckily people are no longer being fooled by this misnomer. Just because an ideology is claiming to be a religion or an ideology of peace does not suddenly warrant it to be representing peaceful teachings. Everyone has woken up to the fact that Islam is not really a religion of peace and this fact can be easily quantified and demonstrated through the behavior of vast numbers of Muslims. But let us examine whether Islam was a religion of peace during Muhammad's own lifetime.

From my deep research into Islamic resources and texts, it is clear that there was a time when Islam truly was a religion of peace, but that time was short lived. Yes, in Mecca where Muhammad began preaching, he truly did bring a message of peace and egalitarianism. Muhammad had no choice but to preach peace because anyone wanting to be followed as a Prophet must teach good teachings to get anywhere and be taken seriously. So for five to six years of his early career he brought a religion which could be called that of representing true peace but this quickly changed as Muhammad realized he wasn't getting any real results being a Prophet. After thirteen years of preaching he could only claim about 150 people who would call him a Prophet. This was a very poor performance and it seems Allah was not the most convincing God ever invented.

Muhammad taught Islam in secret for years, but suddenly, it is claimed, "Allah" told him that the time had come to go public with his message. As one would expect, his public message also was peaceful initially. But as he saw weeks turn into years with only a few followers, his project could only be described as a failure. Muhammad got frustrated and began to insult the gods of the Meccans and their religion. Just like today you see Muslims arrogantly claiming their religion to be better than every other creed and paying no attention to how insulting their words are, similarly Muhammad began to push his religion as being better than the Meccans' paganism and began to disrespect their culture.

Muslims today would have you believe that the Meccans of the 7th century persecuted Muhammad in order to arouse your sympathy. Do not be fooled by this. This although true, fails to mention why he was persecuted and the reason Muslims can not explain this is because Muslims are unaware of their own history. Let me illustrate my point by analogy. Imagine you turn on the TV today and there is a report of a man with about a hundred followers suddenly coming out publicly in Saudi Arabia claiming that he is God's true messenger and everyone else is praying to a false God. No one needs to tell you what would happen to him; we already know how peaceful Islam is. Yes, this pseudo-Prophet and his gang of followers would be persecuted but would any Muslim say that it was wrong for them to be persecuted? Then why the double standards? Why is it that when the same thing happens and Muhammad begins insulting Meccan gods, suddenly he is hailed as a hero and a victim. Why do Muslims expect other people to treat Muslims differently and in a more special manner? Did the Meccans not have the right to love and defend the honor of the Gods they worshipped?

After these few years of Muhammad preaching however, the message quickly turned sour and began to be poisoned by messages of hate which are easy to ascertain from the Quran and are a signature testifying to its human origin. They also testify to Muhammad's frustration for essentially failing to see the success he had hoped to see. The peaceful message Muhammad began with quickly took on a different tone as Muhammad's followers, now convinced he was the Prophet of God, numbered about 150. Islam quickly turned into a religion of constant quarrels and wars that last to this very day. What kind of peace is this I ask? Muhammad poisoned the Meccan society so much and created such divisions that he was forced into exile. After this point there was unending war and bloodshed. Muslims say all these wars were defensive wars and Muslims were only protecting themselves. Again, this demonstrates how little Muslims have looked at their own historical sources. When you do, it rapidly becomes obvious that most of Muhammad's battles were offensive and "NOT" defensive. How else do you think Muhammad and his "Ummah" paid for their expenses? Muhammad paid for his and the Ummah's expenses by looting and stealing from innocent tribes, merchant caravans and peoples. If you do not believe me, as I am sure you will not, take this hadith as an example which explicitly show Muhammad attacking a whole tribe without warning and looting at will: -

Sahih Bukhari Volume 3, Book 46, Number 717:

Narrated Ibn Aun:
...Muhammad had SUDDENLY attacked Bani Mustaliq WITHOUT WARNING while they were heedless and their cattle were being watered at the places of water. Their fighting men were killed and their women and children were taken as captives; the Prophet got Juwairiya on that day. Nafi said that Ibn 'Umar had told him the above narration and that Ibn 'Umar was in that army.

This is exactly the behavior of a warlord, not a Prophet. Muhammad's career as a Prophet ended very early on as he realized he would have more success as a military leader, using his religion as a way to attract more followers and keeping his followers in line. Disobeying him became a capital offense punished by death and hell-fire. Without any evidence given, Muslim scholars casually assert that all these attacks were done preemptively because the tribe in question was conspiring to fight against the Muslims in the future even though there is no evidence given for this assertion and unfortunately Muslims who want to believe their Prophet was truly peaceful believe this lie without questioning or looking at the facts. Whichever way you look at the hadith above, you see Muhammad attacking an innocent tribe to steal their property and pay for the expenses of his Ummah through looting. Even if this tribe was conspiring against Muslims (there is no evidence that they were), then its still an offensive battle and so Muslims can not say that Muhammad killed people only in self-defense. This is not self defense. Muslims were not attacked here but were the aggressors. So much for peace...

Yes, Muhammad failed as a Prophet and when he migrated to Medina he changed his strategy so he was a Prophet in name but a warlord in action spreading his message through force. Here is a graph which illustrates the failure of Muhammad as a Prophet but his success as a warrior chieftain: -

Constant warfare, constant death and destruction. The biography of Muhammad is filled with murder, violence and hate. I was hard pressed to find anything peaceful in Islam. Almost everything peaceful was only during the first few years of Islam and then it was continual hate and violence. Look at this image made from using only Islamic sources. What people believe to be true matters because it animates them to act on what they believe. When we look around the world and see extreme atrocities being committed by Muslims with no concern for human life, is it any surprise considering that they look to Muhammad's legacy as their model for living their life? I have demonstrated that Islam never was a religion of peace and any Muslim claiming that it is or was, simply is not aware of their own history and clearly has not done any objective unbiased study of Islam. I would urge Muslims to stop going to biased pro-islamic propaganda websites and look at the original material like the Quran and Hadith themselves. Read the Quran from first page to last in a language that you understand and you will see the unbelievable hate and violence that I saw and quickly realize that it was written by a war mongering man who imposed his ideology on Arabia through force and brutality. Muslims who act like savages are the ones who are actually implementing the true essence of Islam as done by early Muslims and any Muslims who are not acting like savages but behaving like peaceful humans are simply ignoring most of their religion or are unaware of the true barbarity of the early Muslims and Muhammad himself.

Hello World!

This is a blog I have set up in order to describe my experiences and feelings as I have journeyed from being a Sunni Muslim to a freethinker. Therefore, the best way to begin is to introduce myself and tell my story. My name is Rafi Aziz. I was a Muslim for 22 years and was born into an Islam. My grandfather was the head imam at a prestigious mosque.

Although Muslims are going to say that I was never a "real" Muslim (whatever that means) or that I didn't know Islam; to them I have this to say: "I was a very devout Muslim". I recall a time when I was reading the account of Muhammad's death. My mind was colorfully constructing the version of the events I was reading. In my head I was painting a picture using the tools of imagination of how Muhammad must have been lying next to Ayesha as he passed away. The shock it must have undoubtedly introduced and how Abu' Bakar said "...whoever amongst you worshiped Muhammad, then Muhammad is dead, but whoever worships Allah, Allah is alive and will never die." By this point my clothes were moist with the tears that had been flowing whilst I was reading the story.

Yes, I loved Allah, Muhammad and Islam.To get into Jannat was to me the most important and fulfilling activity. Constantly thanking Allah for having been born a Muslim. But things began to change as I got older. Computer and therefore internet was never available to me when I was in my younger years. However, with the internet I was able to get access to all the translations of the Quran, all the Tafseers, all the Hadith. Most importantly, I could get all this for free. What I learned through this newly found information was shocking. For years I researched as deeply and fervently as I could. The more I learned, the most flabbergasted and disturbed I became.

From child marriages to a pregnant woman being murdered and Muhammad forgiving the murderer, I found it all. Like a good Muslim, I soaked it all up but didn't ask questions and for a while thought everything was okay. There was no problem and assumed everything still made sense. Muhammad was perfect afterall and any doubts or questions was shaytan (satan) tempting me. It was all a test from Allah which I tried my best to pass by ignoring the questions.

However, my journey was only just beginning. I've always been a curious person. And now that I think back I'm glad, that curiosity got the best of me. There was no turning back. Those Hadith were there. They were real, recorded and reported in Muslim books. How could it be a test when they were part of Islam and accepted as legitimate anecdotes by Islamic scholars. It was not non-muslims who made up the story of Muhammad having sex with a 9 year old girl when he was 53. This WAS Islam.

The second shock came when I read the Quran in a language I understood, English. For years, I was reading it and trying to memorize it in Arabic without understanding a single word eccept maybe "Allah" and "Muhammad". I had no idea what I was reading. But through my curiosity I decided to read it from front to back, Surah after Surah. This was meant to be God's word so what kind of a religion was I following in which I didn't even know what my God said to me. Again, the same thing happened. The more I read, the more I was disturbed. In my blog I will explain all of these allegations in more detail and justify them but for now, it is enough to say that I found the Quran to be repetitive, full of ugly and unnecessary threats, intimidating and rather boring. My life changed during that period forever. I began to find it pointless praying to Allah when I didn't even know what I was saying to him since just like the Quran, I read Namaz in a language I didn't understand.

Lastly, I discovered the beauties of Science That really opened my mind to new possibilities. There was just so much wonder in the world that Islam seemed too petty and small. Why would Allah who creates the Universe worry about little things us humans do? Surely he has better things to do, and don't tell me he watches over us because he cares for us and loves us. Have you read the Quran? If anything, Allah hates us considering the only ability he has shown in the Quran is the ability to find any excuse to torture you and bring you pain. Islam seemed to diminish the beauty of the Universe by teaching that you are born into a pointless test which is rigged to make you fail. Allah apparently created us, just to see if we'll worship him and find out which of the hundreds of religions was the real one. That began to seem if not absolutely pointless, then to be honest, rather stupid. What kind of a test is it in which most people only pass just because they were born into the winning team? If life is a test, it seems the most unfair test imaginable. If that is the meaning of life, to pass a pointless quiz, I would rather live a meaningless life.
